I want to go to KU. Is it worth it to live in Kansas to establish residency before attending?

Out of state tuition for the University of Kansas is probably out of my range, but I really love the school. Would it be a wise decision to move to Kansas, live there for a year and become a legal resident, and THEN apply for school? Admission is basically a guarantee.
