Essay Question: Why are UK elections important globally and nationally?

Okay, so i've got this essay that i'm really struggling with and i'd love it if you guys could just spend a minute of your time jotting down why you think elections are important. Of course i don't expect you to do the essay for me! I just need some help, :) thanks! x
