Wrapping a baby's mattress to prevent SIDS?

Why not just buy a natural wool mattress? The plastic wrap will off-gas too. So does compressed wood, so get rid of that too. Use all-natural organic clothing/bedding and cotton diapers with wool covers. Maybe a better solution is making sure the room is well ventilated and you use an air purifier? If you set the crib up several months before you intend to use it, you can air it out. You could try to find a used mattress form a friend or family member. Either way, cloth diapers is one way I keep harmful chemicals out of my baby's world.
